Join us at Allora for a very special evening celebrating the wines of Malvirà, one of the historic producers of Roero in Piemonte, Italy, with special guest Giacomo Damonte.
Founded by Giacomo’s grandfather, Giuseppe, in the 1950s in Canale, Malvirà has remained a family endeavor for three generations. Deeply rooted in the hills of Roero, the winery is known for expressive wines that capture the character of the region, particularly its native Arneis and Nebbiolo.
Giacomo represents the third generation of the Damonte family at Malvirà. A trained enologist with a degree in Viticulture and Enology from the University of Turin, he now serves as Cellar Manager, working alongside his father, Roberto, to guide the winemaking and carry the family’s traditions into a new generation.

I’ve been lucky to satisfy my wine wanderlust in Piemonte multiple times. It’s a magical place – the foothills of the Alps rolling like green waves backdropped by clear blue skies. The wine and grapes from Piedmont, like so much of Italy, are deeply rooted in history and tradition. Heralded as the King of this, or the Queen of that, indigenous grapes like Nebbiolo create some of Italy’s, and the world’s, most iconic wines.
On the left bank of the Tanaro River lies the Roero, a verdant winegrowing region across from legendary names like Barolo and Barbaresco. This is a special place, famous not only for its wines, but foodstuffs like Madernassa pears and truffles. A place where from the edge of a gravelly mountain path you can find seashells, remnants of ancient seas dating back to the Pliocene era. Quiet mornings serenaded by birdsong, tree capped vistas with soft rows of vineyards etched in the hillsides. Nebbiolo, alongside Arneis, are the emblematic duo of the Roero region.
In the historic town of Canale, you’ll find the great Malvirà estate. I have been to their property twice in my career and both times I was inspired by their winemaking. True stewards of their land, the Damonte family has been growing grapes in Canale since the 1950s. They are now a third-generation family-owned farm, led by Giacomo Damonte.

It is my honor to invite you to Allora on October 28th for a very special evening. Giacomo Damnte will guide us through a selection of five Malvirà wines paired with exceptional dishes from our new Chef de Cuisine Mattia Melchionna and Pastry Chef Chrissy Sievert.
